Mato Grosso’s Claudio Silva gets 3rd UFC win at ‘UFC Fight Night 130’ in Liverpool

Fighting out of Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso, Brazil, Claudio “Hannibal” Silva, 35, has earned his third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. On May 27, 2018, he conquered his Canadian opponent at “UFC Fight Night 130” at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.

At “UFC Fight Night 130,” Silva competed against Nordine Taleb, 36, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the welterweight division, which is currently dominated by reigning UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley, 36, of Ferguson, Missouri. Both Silva and Taleb were coming out of a UFC victory.

Prior to “UFC Fight Night 130,” Taleb knocked out Danny “Hot Chocolate” Roberts, 30, of Liverpool via head kick and punch at “UFC on Fox 26.” Before facing Taleb, Silva defeated Leon “Rocky” Edwards, 26, of Erdington, West Midlands, England via split decision at “UFC Fight Night 56.”

The welterweight bout between Silva and Taleb at “UFC Fight Night 130” ended at 4:31 of Round 1. Referee Neil Hall put a stop to the contest when the Brazilian fighter submitted his Canadian opponent via rear-naked choke.

This is the third time Silva won inside the UFC cage. When he made his promotional debut on March 8, 2014 at “UFC Fight Night 37,” he defeated Bradley “Bear” Scott, 28, of Melksham, Wiltshire, England via unanimous decision.

After defeating Taleb at “UFC Fight Night 130,” Silva improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 12 wins and 1 loss. His only loss was from his professional MMA debut, which took place on November 10, 2007 at “Ultimate Warrior Challenge 5,” where he lost via disqualification to Matt “12 Gauge” Thorpe of Farnworth, Bolton, England.

On the other hand, Taleb’s record downgraded to 14 wins and 5 losses. In the UFC, he has 6 wins and 3 losses.

“UFC Fight Night 130” was headlined by Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, 35, of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Darren “The Gorilla” Till, 25, of Liverpool. After five five-minute rounds, Till won the catchweight bout against Thompson via unanimous decision.
