ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has officially announced the co-main event of “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.” On June 23, 2018, ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, of the Philippines will challenge reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 29, of Brazil in a flyweight title unification bout at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China.
“Adriano Moraes and Geje Eustaquio, two respected world champions will face off against each other to unify the flyweight world titles,” Sityodtong announced. “With both men looking to settle the score, only one will leave the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion.”
Moraes and Eustaquio faced each other for the first time on September 12, 2014 at “ONE: Rise of the Kingdom” at the Koh Pich Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Referee Olivier Coste ended the bout at 3:54 of Round 2 when the Brazilian fighter submitted his Filipino opponent via guillotine choke.
Both Moraes and Eustaquio both lost once to Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan but won the subsequent rematches. Akhtemov defeated Moraes via split decision at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions” on November 21, 2015.
On August 5, 2017, Moraes and Akhtemov had their rematch at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” and the former won via unanimous decision. Akhtemov bounced back by defeating Eustaquio via split decision at “ONE: Total Victory” on September 16, 2017 but during their rematch at “ONE: Global Superheroes” on January 26, 2018, the Filipino fighter defeated his Kazakh rival via unanimous decision.
After the title unification bout between Moraes and Eustaquio, “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” will culminate with Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina challenging reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China.
