Representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, has won two rematches inside the ONE Championship cage. After winning the ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion title, he will compete for the ONE Flyweight World Champion title.
The upcoming title unification bout marks the third time Eustaquio is competing against an opponent for the second time inside the ONE Championship cage. This makes the Team Lakay fighter the King of Rematch in the promotion.
Eustaquio has been competing in ONE Championship since 2012. The two fighters he had a rematch with were Anatpong “Mak Mak” Bunrad, 31, of Thailand and former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan.
On April 24, 2015, Eustaquio lost to Bunrad via split decision at “ONE: Valor of Champions.” When they had their rematch on May 26, 2017 at “ONE: Dynasty of Heroes,” the Team Lakay fighter defeated his Thai opponent via split decision.
On September 16, 2017, Eustaquio lost to Akhtemov at “ONE: Total Victory” via split decision. They had their rematch on January 26, 2018 at “ONE: Global Superheroes” where the Team Lakay fighter became the ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion after defeating his Kazakh opponent via unanimous decision.
“Winning the world title is a dream come true for me,” Eustaquio stated. “Ever since I started my professional career, the goal was to be a world champion. Now, that goal is a reality.”
Believing that it could be sweeter the second time around, Eustaquio seeks to replicate the same magic as he is slated to lock horns once again with reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 29, of Brazil. On September 12, 2014, the Baguio City native lost to the Brazilian champ at “ONE: Rise of the Kingdom” via guillotine choke submission.
The rematch between Eustaquio and Moraes will be the co-main event of “ONE: Pinnacle of Power,” which will take place at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China on June 23, 2018. Meanwhile, watch the Team Lakay fighter’s most recent bout here:
