Since Laura “The Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina made her professional mixed martial arts debut in October 2011, she has experienced a tremendous amount of success. The mother of two and former kindergarten teacher compiled a record of 10 wins and 2 losses.

Out of Balin’s 10 victories, 9 have come by spectacular finish, including 5 submissions and 4 knockouts. She is looking forward to improve her record as she challenges reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China.

Balin and Xiong will headline “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China on June 23, 2018. This marks the Argentinian challenger’s ONE Championship debut.

Even if Balin is setting foot on foreign soil for the first world title contest of her career, she assures that she is in no way intimidated with her opponent’s hometown advantage. She said, “It is not something I worry about really.”

“It is more of an incentive,” Balin explained. “I do not really take into consideration if I am on the home side or the visitor side. I am going to give my best all the same.”

At “ONE: Pinnacle of Power,” Balin may take a few blows from Xiong. But the Argentinian challenger cares about achieving victory and is willing to eat a few punches to get her arm raised with a gold-plated strap draped over her shoulder.

“Any goal that you want, you need to work towards it every day,” Balin shared. “Find that goal. Find that one thing that you are passionate about and hold on to it. You do not always need to get punched to follow your dream, but you do need to take a few blows with every goal that you really care about.”

Xiong may be riding a wave of momentum due to her impressive winning streak. But Balin is not overly concerned about the opposition that is in front of her in Macau.

“I see many ways that this fight could go,” Balin declared. “Fighters always need to be prepared for a variety of different outcomes. I have to get ready to beat her within five rounds. This will be a long fight, and I need to prepare for it.”

“ONE: Pinnacle of Power” will be co-headlined by reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes of Brazil and ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio of the Philippines. Watch the teaser here:
