Representing Australia, Elliot “The Dragon” Compton, 29, earned his first win ONE Super Series on June 29, 2018. He conquered his American opponent at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
At “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” Compton competed against Matthew “Sobek” Semper, 30, of the United States in a kickboxing contest in the lightweight division. It was the first bout of the evening.
Compton and Semper battled it out in three three-minute rounds. In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of the Australian kickboxer as the winner via unanimous decision.
This made Compton the first Australian martial artist to win in ONE Super Series. This is not his first time to compete in the striking-only league of ONE Championship.
On April 20, 2018, Compton made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila where he competed against Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 35, of Brazil in a Muay Thai match in the lightweight division. The Brazilian contender was the better man that night as he knocked out his Australian opponent in the second round.
By winning at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” Compton improved his professional record to 46 wins and 11 losses. On the other hand, Semper now has 56 wins, 23 losses and 1 draw.
Aside from the kickboxing match between Compton and Semper, there were two other ONE Super Series bouts at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior.” In the second kickboxing contest of the evening, Samy “AK47” Sana of France lost to Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy of Thailand via unanimous decision in a catch weight bout of 72 kg.
In the third ONE Super Series match, Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy, 25, defeated Samy “AK47” Sana, 29, of France via unanimous decision. They competed in a kickboxing contest in a catch weight of 72 kg.
