On July 4, 2018, the largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship (ONE), held the official “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” face-off at the Roof Top Bar of the Park Hyatt in Guangzhou, China. Leading the 10 pairs of ONE Championship athletes during the pre-fight event were Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei.

On July 7, 2018, thousands of fights fans flocked at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou to witness the “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” fight night.  In the fifth bout of the evening, Chinese mixed martial artists Zhao Zhi Kang, 22, and Ma Xu Dong competed at a catchweight of 68 kg.

Zhao redeemed himself months after tasting his first setback in ONE Championship by defeating a compatriot, who was a promotional debutante.

Initially, Zhao went through a rough start at the hands of Ma. The former clung onto his submission wizardry, which paid dividends in the third and final round.

The bout ended when Zhao was able to submit Ma via guillotine choke. Here are the official “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” results:

1. Strawweight bout: Robin Catalan defeats Adrian Mattheis by Submission (Heel Hook) at 2:10 minutes of round 2
2. Strawweight bout: Peng Xue Wen defeats Eddey Kalai by TKO (Strikes) at 0:57 minutes of round 1
3. Bantamweight bout: Shuya Kamikubo defeats Sunoto by TKO (Strikes) at 3:54 minutes of round 2
4. Women’s Atomweight bout: Istela Nunes defeats Gina Iniong by Unanimous Decision (UD) after 3 rounds
5. Catch Weight bout (68.0kg): Zhao Zhi Kang defeats Ma Xu Dong by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:08 minutes of round 3
6. ONE Super Series Muay Thai Bantamweight bout: Saemapetch Fairtex defeats Deividas Danyla by Unanimous Decision (UD) after 3 rounds
7. Catch Weight bout (66.5kg): Fu Chang Xin defeats Rustem Yensebayev by TKO (Strikes) at 4:32 minutes of round 1
8. ONE Super Series Kickboxing Catch Weight bout (105.0kg): Ibrahim El Bouni defeats Andre Meunier by Knockout (KO) at 1:31 minutes of round 1
9. Flyweight bout: Reece McLaren defeats Tatsumitsu Wada by Split Decision (SD) after 3 rounds
10. ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship bout: Kai Ting Chuang defeats Yodcherry Sityodtong by Unanimous Decision (UD) after 5 rounds
