After going on hiatus for almost a year, Keanu Subba, 24, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is returning to the ONE Championship cage. A featherweight bout between him Xie Chao of Shandong, China has been booked for “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” which will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
Scheduled on July 13, 2018, “ONE: Pursuit of Power” will feature 10 bouts. The featherweight bout between Subba and Xie will be the fifth bout of the evening.
“ONE: Pursuit of Power” marks Subba’s seventh ONE Championship bout. For Xie, it will be his fourth outing in the promotion.
Xie won all of his three bouts in ONE Championship. In his first, second and third outings in the promotion, he defeated Marc Marcellinus of Malaysia, out Kelvin “Ice Man” Ong, 30, of Malaysia and Meas Meul, 28, of Cambodia, respectively.
Currently, Xie holds a professional MMA record of 9 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Subba has 5 wins and 3 losses.
Five of Subba’s six ONE Championship bouts took place in Kuala Lumpur. He won all of the bouts in his hometown except the most recent one, where he lost via armlock submission to Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 19, of Singapore.
“ONE: Pursuit of Power” will be ONE Championship’s second event in Malaysia in 2018. The promotion’s chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced, “ONE Championship returns to the Axiata Arena this 13 July for another blockbuster evening of world-class martial arts action.”
“We have an amazing event planned for fans in Kuala Lumpur, as our ONE Championship athletes get ready to electrify the stadium with dazzling performances,” Sityodtong added. “In the main event, Malaysia’s very own Agilan ‘Alligator’ Thani takes on Zebaztian ‘The Bandit’ Kadestam in a welterweight contest. Also, Jo Nattawut will face Yohann Fairtex Drai in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest.”
