ONE Championship is returning to Malaysia on July 13, 2018 for “ONE: Pursuit of Power” featuring seven mixed martial arts matches and three striking bouts in ONE Super Series. The seventh bout of the evening is between Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 42, of Ulaangom, Mongolia and Kazuki Tokudome, 31, of Tokyo, Japan.
Taking place at the Axiata Arena, “ONE: Pursuit of Power” marks Tokudome’s ONE Championship debut. Before joining the promotion, he competed in Pancrase and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The only fighter Tokudome defeated in the UFC is Cristiano Marcello, 40, of Brazil, who recently signed with Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation. The last time Tokudome won in the cage was on July 2, 2017 when he defeated Kieran “The Stonecutter” Joblin, 29, of New Zealand via unanimous decision at “Pancrase 288.”
Jadambaa and Tokudome will compete in the featherweight division at “ONE: Pursuit of Power.” Currently reigning as the ONE Featherweight World Champion is Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam, who is also the reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion.
The Mongolian contender reigned as the ONE Featherweight World Champion from August 29, 2014 to November 21, 2015. Currently, he holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 13 wins and 5 losses while Tokudome has 18 wins and 8 losses.
“ONE: Pursuit of Power” marks Jadambaa’s eighth bout in the ONE Championship. In his seventh bout in the promotion, which was on November 11, 2016, he lost in his rematch with Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, 33, of Russia, who is also a former ONE Featherweight World Champion.
After losing to Gafurov, Jadambaa went on hiatus for more than a year. He successfully returned to the cage on June 23, 2018 at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” by knocking out Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 33, of the Philippines.
