[PHOTOS] Djamil Chan vs Alejandro Martinez at ‘Brave 14: Morocco’

For the first time in the history of mixed martial arts, an MMA event hosted by a global organization took place in Africa. This was courtesy of Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation, which hosted “Brave 14” in Morocco on August 14, 2018.

Featuring nine bouts of the evening, “Brave 14” took place at the Omnisports Indoor Club of Tangier in Tangier, Morocco on August 18, 2018. The evening kicked off with a lightweight bout between Djamil “Dynamite” Chan, 28, of Rotterdam, Netherlands and Alejandro “Pato” Martinez, 27, of Jalisco, Mexico.

The lightweight bout between Chan and Martinez was the quickest fight of the evening. It only took the Dutch contender 29 seconds to knock out his Mexican opponent.

Winning at “Brave 14” improved Chan’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 4 losses. It marked his Brave CF debut.

On the other hand, “Brave 14” marked Martinez’s fourth Brave CF bout. Losing to Chan downgraded his record to 3 wins and 2 losses.

Martinez won his first two bouts in Brave CF. He knocked out Paulo “Bananada” Goncalves Silva, 33, of Brazil at “Brave 5: Go for Glory” via punches on April 22, 2017 and submitted Fabian”Aniquilador” Quintanar, 31, of Mexico via rear-naked choke at “Brave 7: Untamed” on July 29, 2017.

On the other hand, Chan was coming out of a victory at “German MMA Championship 13” on December 16, 2017. He knocked out Anatolij “Siberian Tiger” Baal, 25, Germany.

Prior to this, Chan competed in three Bellator MMA bouts. After knocking out Richard Patishnock, 30, of the United States at “Bellator 153,” Chan defeated Derek “The Stallion” Campos, 30, of the U.S. at “Bellator 161” via unanimous decision and Valeriu Mircea, 24, of Moldova at “Bellator 176” via majority decision.

In the main event of “Brave 14,” Brave CF Lightweight Champion Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 28, of Germany competed in the welterweight division. The German-Moroccan fighter knocked out Danijel “Vitez: Kokora, 28, of Deliblato, Serbia at 0:32 of Round 1.

In the co-main event, Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy, 25, of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada faced Danyel Pilo, 30, Lavagna, Genoa, Italy in the featherweight division. The Canadian fighter knocked out his Italian opponent at 2:02 of Round 1.
