Fighters from the legendary mixed martial arts group Team Lakay participated in the celebration of the 109th annual Baguio City Day on September 1, 2018. A parade was organized to celebrate the city’s feat as the first Philippine city to make it to the prestigious global creative circle.

Located at an elevation of 5,050 feet above sea level in the mountains of Baguio City, Team Lakay has been recognized as one of Asia’s elite mixed martial arts camps. It spawned remarkable ONE Championship athletes such as Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, Danny “The King” Kingad, Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, Gina “Conviction” Iniong and April Osenio.

Belingon was the centerpiece of the parade as he received cheers and adulation from the crowd. He captured the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship against two-division titleholder Martin Nguyen in July 2018.

The parade featured performers in traditional Igorot garb native to the province of Benguet and its neighbors in the Cordillera region as they rode a pick-up truck along Session Road bearing a mock display of the ONE World Championship belt attached to the vehicle’s bullbar. Belingon and his Team Lakay comrades waved to fans as the parade traversed down the city’s most populous areas.

Locals likewise lined up to see Eustaquio, who became the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion by defeating Brazil’s Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes in a rematch in June 2018. Joining Eustaquio during the motorcade were fellow Kelly and Team Lakay member Jon Chris Corton, who recently signed with Brave Combat Federation.

Team Lakay fans were also able to catch a glimpse of Pacio, a two-time ONE Strawweight World Championship challenger. He stood beside Kingad and their junior teammate Edilberto Coquia Jr.

Folayang was not present during the event as he is currently having his training in the United States. Meanwhile, here is Belingon’s recent ONE Championship ring walkout:
