When Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, 31, of Bangkok, Thailand made his debut in ONE Super Series, he defeated a French opponent. In the Thai kickboxing superstar’s second bout in the ONE Championship’s striking-only league, he will face yet another French opponent.

Nong-O is a five-division Lumpinee Stadium Champion. On April 20, 2018, he defeated two-time World Boxing Council Muay Thai World Champion Fabio Pinca, 34, of Lyon, France  at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

“Pinca is good,” Nong-o commented. “I enjoyed competing against him. He is well-rounded and is effective with all of his weapons.”

Before “ONE: Heroes of Honor,”  Nong-O went on hiatus. But the Thai kickboxing superstar appeared that he did not miss a beat as he engaged in a spirited Muay Thai contest with Pinca.

“He was a bit slower than me,” Nong-O said of Pinca. “So that is one of the advantages I had.”

Featuring plenty of action and excitement, Nong-O and Pinca two traded their best shots in three solid rounds of action. But it was the Thai contender who showcased superior technique, plastering his French opponent with thudding left kicks to the midsection and scoring with his patented sweeps.

In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of Nong-O as the winner via unanimous decision. The Thai martial artist said, “I felt very happy.”

“I was excited for my ONE Championship debut and to compete in such a big arena in Manila was amazing,”Nong-O added. “I felt great in the ring and I really enjoyed myself.”

Nong-O admitted that he felt a bit of ring rust in the early proceedings of his bout against Pinca. According to the Thai kickboxer, his plan was to read his French opponent’s game and “go from there.”

“It was my first bout in a long time so I was not 100 percent sharp yet,” Nong-O said. “I will be better in my next bout.”

On October 6, 2018, Nong-O is returning to the ONE Super Series ring. The Bangkok native will compete in a Muay Thai bantamweight contest against WBC World Champion Mehdi “Diamond Heart” Zatout, 35, of Paris, France at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
