Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, the UFC held “UFC 229” at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States on October 6, 2018. In the second bout of the evening, Lentz competed in the lightweight division against Gray “The Bully” Maynard, 39, of Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Referee Dan Miragliotta put a stop to the lightweight bout between Lentz and Maynard at 1:19 in the second round. The fighter from Minnesota knocked out his opponent from Nevada via head kick and punches.
“UFC 229” marked Lentz’s 21st UFC bout. The first 12 opponents he defeated in the promotion were Rafaello Oliveira, Robert Emerson, Andre Winner, Tyson Griffin, Waylon Lowe, Eiji Mitsuoka, Diego Nunes, Hacran Dias, Manny Gamburyan, Danny Castillo, Michael McBride and Will Brooks.
By defeating Maynard at “UFC 229,” Lentz improved his professional MMA record to 29 wins, 9 losses, 2 draws and 1 No Contest. On the other hand, Maynard’s record downgraded to 13 wins and 7 losses.
In the co-main event of the evening, Tony “El Cucy” Ferguson, 34, of Oxnard, California, United States and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, 31, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States competed in the lightweight division.
In the main event, Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Dagestan, Russia defended his UFC Lightweight Championship belt for the first time. Former champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor, 30, of Dublin, Ireland challenged the Dagestani reigning champion.
