Fighting out of Bangkok, Thailand, Muangthai “Elbow Zombie” P.K.Saenchai Muaythaigym, 23, has just made his successful debut in ONE Super Series, the striking-only league of ONE Championship. On November 9, 2018, the Thai Nak Muay competed at “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
“ONE: Heart of the Lion” featured nine MMA bouts, three Muay Thai fights and one kickboxing contest. In the fourth bout of the evening, Muangthai competed in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division against Panicos Yusuf, 33, of Limassol, Cyprus.
After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai bantamweight bout between Muangthai and Yusuf was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of the Thai martial artist, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Muangthai was born in Nong Ki District, Thailand. In 2012, he was the Lumpinee Stadium Flyweight Champion.
Since 2014, Muangthai has been training at P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym. In the same year, he was the Channel 7 Stadium Super Featherweight Champion.
P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym is home to several Muay Thai champions. Among them are Wanchalong, Kaonar, Kongsak Saenchaimuaythaigym and Saenchai PKSaenchaimuaythaigym.
In 2016, Muangthai was named the Lumpinee Stadium Fighter of the Year. In 2017, he was the Thailand Lightweight Champion.
While “ONE: Heart of the Lion” marked Muangthai’s ONE Super Series debut, it was the second outing of Yusuf in ONE Championship’s striking-only league. When the latter made his promotional debut on July 27, 2018 at “ONE: Reign of Kings” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, he won via unanimous decision against Han Zi Hao, 23, of China.
Yusuf is based in the United Kingdom. His father is Turkish-Cypriot while his mother is Filipino.
