Englewood vs Las Vegas: Devonte Smith, Julian Erosa fight at ‘UFC Fight Night 139’ in Denver

The Ultimate Fighting Championship held “UFC Fight Night 139” at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, United States on November 10, 2018. The fight card featured 12 mixed martial arts matches, three of which were female matches.

In the third bout of the evening, two American fighters faced each other in the lightweight division. Devonte “King Cage” Smith, 25, of Englewood, Colorado, United States faced Julian “Juicy J” Erosa, 29, of Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Blue Corner

Born in Bedford, Ohio on July 30, 1993, Smith trains at factory Muay Thai in Englewood. “UFC Fight Night 139” marked his first official bout in the UFC after his successful bout in Dana White’s Contender Series.

Red Corner

Shelton trains at Yakima, Washington, United States. “UFC Fight Night 139” marked his first official bout in the UFC after his successful bout in Dana White’s Contender Series.

Fight Result

Referee Tim Mills put a stop to the lightweight bout between Smith and Shelton at 0:46 of Round 1. The fighter from Englewood knocked out his opponent from Las Vegas via punches.

Winning at “UFC Fight Night 139” improved Smith’s professional MMA record to 9 wins and 1 loss. He is now riding a five-bout winning streak.

On the other hand, Erosa now has 22 wins and 6 losses. Losing at “UFC Fight Night 139” ended his three-bout winning streak.

In the co-main event of the evening, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, 35, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States and Mike “Platinum” Perry, 27, of Orlando, Florida, United States battled it out in the welterweight division. The fighter from Albuquerque submitted his opponent from Orlando via armbar at 4:46 of Round 1.

In the main event, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, 31, of Seoul, South Korea and Yair “El Pantera” Rodriguez, 26, of Chicago, Illinois, United States competed in the featherweight division. The American contender knocked out his Korean opponent via elbow at 4:59 of Round 5.
