Bangladesh will be one of the 14 countries that will be represented at “ONE: Conquest of Champions.” It is the fourth and last ONE Championship event in the Philippines in 2018.
Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 23, 2018, “ONE: Conquest of Champions” will feature eight mixed martial arts matches, two Muay Thai bouts and two kickboxing contests. In the first bout of the evening, Asraful “Warrior” Islam, 22, of Dhaka, Bangladesh will compete in an MMA bout in the flyweight division.
This will be Islam’s second professional MMA bout and second outing in ONE Championship. His opponent will be Rudy “The Golden Boy” Agustian of Tangerang, Indonesia.
Islam and Agustian were originally scheduled to face each other at “ONE: Pursuit of Greatness” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on October 26, 2018. However, the Bangladeshi contender was pulled out of the card and was replaced by Kaji “Alpha” Ebin, 26, of Manila, Philippines.
As an amateur fighter, Asraful competed in Bangladesh MMA League. The Dhaka native won two bouts in the league before going professional.
A former National Wushu Champion, Islam made his professional MMA debut in ONE Championship. His promotional debut took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand at “ONE: Warriors of the World” on December 9, 2017 and lost via unanimous decision to “The Demolition Man” Tang De Pan, 26, of China.
Training out of Xtreme MMA in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, Islam specializes in Wushu, boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After going on hiatus for almost a year, the Bangladeshi fighter is looking forward to scoring a redemptive win in the Philippines.
In the co-main event of “ONE: Conquest of Champions,” Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of Baguio City, Philippines and Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore will compete for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship. The Filipino contender formerly held the title, which was recently vacated by Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam, who is now the reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion.
In the main event, Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of Manila, Philippines will defend his title as the reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion. His challenger will be Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, 35, of Terracina, Latina, Italy.
