Fighting out of Amman, Jordan, Abdul-Kareem “Pride of Palestine” Al-Selwady, 23, has been crowned the new lightweight champion of Brave Combat Federation. The Jordanian mixed martial artist earned his new title at “Brave 18: Bahrain,” which took place at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town, Bahrain on November 16, 2018.
Al-Selwady entered the Brave CF cage as the challenger at “Brave 18: Bahrain.” In the main event of the evening, the challenged Lucas “Minero” Martins, 29, of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The title bout did not reach the second round. The Jordanian challenger was declared the winner via technical knockout due to injury in the first round, making him the new Brave CF Interim Lightweight Champion.
It was Al-Selwady’s fifth victory in Brave CF. He is undefeated in the promotion and is now riding a six-bout winning streak.
When Al-Selwady made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 1: Bahrain” on September 23, 2016, he submitted Rami Aziz, 27, of Iraq via rear-naked choke in the first round. On March 21, 2017, the Jordanian fighter knocked out Michael “Maicon D” Deiga Scheck of Germany via punches.
On November 17, 2017, Al-Selwady defeated Erick “Indio Brabo” da Silva, 29, of Brazil at “Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions” via technical knockout due to doctor stoppage in the second round. On March 2, 2018, the Amman native defeated Charlie Leary of England via unanimous decision at “Brave 10: The Kingdom of Rises.”
Winning at “Brave 18: Bahrain” improved Al-Selwady’s professional MMA record to 10 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Martins now has 20 wins and 4 losses.
This makes Al-Selwady the third MMA fighter to hold the Brave CF Lightweight Championship title, following Martins. The first one was Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 28, of Germany, who was stripped of his belt in September 2018 due to his unwillingness to defend his title for almost one year.
