Born on December 10, 1988 in Paris, France, Samy “AK47” Sana turns 30 today. Two weeks before his birthday, the French-Algerian martial artist earned his first victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Training out of Venum Training Camp in Pattaya, Thailand, Sana faced Armen Petrosyan, 32, of Gorizia, Italy at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 23, 2018. The latter is the younger brother of Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 32, one of the biggest stars in ONE Super Series.

It was the second time the Paris native competed in ONE Super Series. He was the only fighter on the card who represented France.

Sana and Armen competed in a kickboxing contest at a catch weight of 73 kg. After three rounds, the fighter from Paris was declared the winner via unanimous decision, improving his record to 132 wins and 7 losses.

It was a redemptive win for Sana. When he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on June 29, 2018, he lost to Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand via majority decision in a kickboxing contest in a catch weight of 72 kg.

After “ONE: Conquest of Champions,” there are two interesting opponents Sana should face in his next outing in ONE Super Series. He should either have a rematch with Sorgraw or face Giorgio.

I asked Sana who he would like to fight next, Sorgraw or Giorgio. The French-Algerian kickboxer replied, “Je veux combattre les meilleurs!” (I want to fight the best!)

“Giorgio Petrosyan ou un autre c’est la même chose,” (Whether it is Giorgio Petrosyan or another opponent, it is the same thing) Sana explained. “Je prend tous ceux qu’on me donne. Pour être le meilleur il faut boxé et gagner contre les meilleurs.” (I take all those given to me. To be the best, you have to fight and win against the best.)

On November 9, 2018, Giorgio and Sorgraw competed in a kickboxing bout at a catch weight of 71 kg at “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The Armenian-Italian kickboxer won via unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, here is a clip of Giorgio after his first ONE Super Series win:
