Al “Ragil Al” Iaquinta, 31, of Garden City, Nissau County, New York, United States has earned his ninth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Training out of Serra-Longo Fight Team in Long Island, New York, he was one of the winners at “UFC on Fox 31.”
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC on Fox 31” took place at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. In the main event of the evening, Iaquinta had his rematch with Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee, 26, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
Iaquinta and Lee had their first bout on February 1, 2014. The New York native defeated his opponent from Michigan via unanimous decision at “UFC 169” at the Prudential Center, Neward, New Jersey, USA.
The rematch between Iaquinta and Lee in the main event of “UFC on Fox 31” was left in the hands of the judges yet again. The judges scored the bout 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 all in favor of the Serra-Longo Fight Team athlete.
Beating Lee for the second time improved Iaquinta’s professional MMA record to 14 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Lee now has 17 wins and 4 losses.
In 2012, Iaquinta defeated three opponents at “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 15 namely Jon “Super Sayan” Tuck, 34, of Chalan Pago, Guam, Myles “Fury” Jury, 30, of Hazel Park, Michigan, Andy “The Little Axe” Ogle, 29, of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England and Vinc “From Hell” Pichel, 36, of Simi Valley, California, USA. But in the finale, the Serra-Longo Fight Team fighter lost to Michael “Maverick” Chiesa, 31, of Spokane, Washington, USA.
On August 31, 2013, Iaquinta redeemed himself at “UFC 164” at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. He defeated Ryan Couture, 36, of Edmonds, Washington, USA via unanimous decision.
The other six MMA fighters who lost to Iaquinta in the UFC cage were Piotr “Pletwal” Hallman, 31, of Gdynia, Poland, Rodrigo Damm, 38, of Vila Velha, Brazil, Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson, 34, of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon, 34, of East Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA, Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, 34, of Miami, Florida, USA and Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez, 36, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Damm, Pearson, Lauzon and Sanchez were all knocked out by Iaquinta while Hallman and Masvidal lost via unanimous decision and split decision, respectively.
