Representing Evolve Fight Team, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 32, of Parkland, Washington, United States will make his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. The former UFC Flyweight Champion will face Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu, 23, of Kagoshima, Japan in the flyweight division.
Wakamatsu is coming out of a unanimous decision loss to Danny “The King” Kingad, 23, of La Trinidad, Benguet. On September 22, 2018, the Japanese fighter lost to his Filipino opponent at “ONE: Conquest of Heroes” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Aside from Johnson, former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez, 34, of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, United States is also on the “ONE: A New Era” card. Johnson is widely considered the pound-for-pound best mixed martial artist in the history of the sport. He joined ONE Championship in October 2018.
Alongside Alvarez, Johnson went to Singapore a week after officially signing with ONE Championship. They attended the Global Martial Arts Summit, Global Martial Arts Awards and “ONE: Heart of the Lion.”
