Belarus vs USA: Andrei Arlovski, Walt Harris fight at ‘UFC 232’ in Inglewood, California

Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski of Minsk, Belarus and Walt “The Big Ticket” Harris of Homewood, Alabama, United States were among the mixed martial artists who competed at “UFC 232.” It was the final event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship for 2018.

Featuring 13 MMA bouts, “UFC 232” took place at The Forum, Inglewood, California, USA on December 29, 2018. Arlovski faced Harris in the eighth bout of the evening.

Blue Corner

Born in Babruysk, Belarus on February 4, 1979, Arlovski has been competing professionally since 1999. He reigned as the interim UFC Heavyweight Champion from February 5, 2005 to August 12, 2005 and the champion from August 12, 2005 to April 15, 2006.

“UFC 232” marked Arlovski’s 28th UFC bout. He was coming out of a two-bout losing streak in the promotion.

Red Corner

Harris was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 10, 1983. He has been competing professionally since 2011.

Including one bout in “The Ultimate Fighter,” “UFC 232” marked Harris’s 11th bout in the UFC. He was coming out of a technical knockout victory over Daniel Spitz of Spokane, Washington, USA at “UFC Fight Night 131” on June 1, 2018.

Fight Result

Harris and Arlovski competed in the heavyweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges, who scored it 27-30, 29-28 and 29-28.

In the end, referee Mike Beltran raised the hand of Harris, who was declared the winner via split decision. The victory improved the professional MMA record of the fighter from Alabama to 12 wins and 7 losses.

On the other hand, Arlovski now has 27 wins, 18 losses and 1 No Contest. He is now riding a three-bout losing streak.

“UFC 232” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil challenged UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cris Cyborg” Justino of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. The challenger became a two-division champion by knocking out the defending champion in the first round.

In the main event, Jon “Bones” Jones of Rochester, New York, United States and Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson of Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden competed for the recently vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The American contender redeemed the title he previously held by knocking out his Swedish opponent in the third round.
