England vs USA: Nathaniel Wood, Andre Ewell fight at ‘UFC 232’ in Inglewood, California

Nathaniel “The Prospect” Wood of Morden, Greater London, England and Andre “Mr. Highlight” Ewell of Riverside, California, United States were two of the mixed martial artists who competed at “UFC 232.” It was the final event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship for 2018.

Featuring 13 MMA bouts, “UFC 232” took place at The Forum, Inglewood, California, USA on December 29, 2018. Wood faced Ewell in the fourth bout of the evening.

Blue Corner

Born on January 21, 1988, Ewell has been competing professionally since 2015. He is training out of Apex MMA in Riverside, California.

When Ewell made his UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 137” on September 22, 2018, he defeated Renan “The Baron” Barão of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil via split decision. “UFC 232” marked the Californian fighter’s second UFC bout.

Red Corner

Wood was born in England on August 5, 1993. He is training out of Titan Fighter in London, England.

The English fighter has been competing professionally since 2012. “UFC 232” marked his second UFC bout.

Fight Result

Wood and Ewell competed in the bantamweight division. Referee Mark Smith put a stop to the contest at 4:12 of Round 3 when the English fighter submitted his American opponent via rear-naked choke.

Winning at “UFC 232” improved Wood’s professional MMA record to 15 wins and 3 losses. He is now riding a seven-bout winning streak.

On the other hand, Ewell now has 14 wins and 5 losses. The recent loss broke his five-bout winning streak.

“UFC 232” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil challenged UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cris Cyborg” Justino of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. The challenger became a two-division champion by knocking out the defending champion in the first round.

In the main event, Jon “Bones” Jones of Rochester, New York, United States and Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson of Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden competed for the recently vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The American contender redeemed the title he previously held by knocking out his Swedish opponent in the third round.
