Titled “New Masks on the Block,” “The Masked Singer” Season 1 episode 2 will air on January 9, 2019 on Fox. It will feature six of the 12 mystery celebrity contestants of the reality singing competition series based on the South Korean show titled “King of Mask Singer.”
Episode 1 Recap
Hosted by Nick Cannon, “The Masked Singer” Season 1 made its premiere on January 2, 2019. Celebrity judges Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy met the first six mystery celebrity contestants namely the Deer, the Lion, the Monster, the Peacock, the Unicorn and the Hippo.
In the first match, the Peacock sang “The Greatest Show” by Hugh Jackman while the Hippo sang “My Prerogative” by Bobby Brown. The former won the match.
Singing “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten, the Unicorn won the second match against the Monster who sang “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. The Deer sang “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons and lost the third match to the Lion who sang “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” by Fergie.
In the end, it was the Hippo who was voted out. It was revealed that the singer behind the mask is NFL player Antonio Brown Sr., 30, who has been playing as a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2010.
Episode 2 Clues
In “New Masks on the Block,” the new set of singers are the Alien, the Bee, the Pineapple, the Poodle, the Rabbit and the Raven. The Rabbit, the Pineapple and the Alien are male while the Raven, the Bee and the Poodle are female.
The clues for the Rabbit are a camera or photography and lacrosse gloves. Among the early guesses are Cole Sprouse and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Wearing a Hawaiian outfit, the Pineapple has a parrot on his shoulder as he flexes, showcases his abs, dances Hawaiian and speaks or sings into the microphone and is associated to a Hawaiian girl playing the ukelele. Fans believe that he could be Bruno Mars, Dwayne Johnson, Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino or Adam Sandler
With a platinum record, the Alien is believed to be a professional singer. Her costume makes her look like the titular character in the Nickelodeon animated series “Invader Zim.”
Predominantly black, the Raven is either pregnant or involved in pregnancy controversy. Many fans hope that she is either Cardi B or Carrie Underwood.
The identity of the Bee has something to do with tennis balls. Among the early guesses are Serena Williams, Lorde and Nicki Minaj.
Pretty is pink, the Poodle is said to be always fierce and “fur-ocious.” One clue shows her answering the telephone so some fans guess that she could be Carly Rae Jepsen although that could be pretty obvious, which is unlikely to be what the people behind the show want.
