“America’s Next Top Model” creator Tyra Banks still cannot get over Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s signature walk called the Lava Walk. On January 19, 2019, the former took to Twitter to share a clip of the Lava Walk pitted against her own runway walk, which she called the Volcano Strut.
On December 13, 2018, Gray introduced the Lava Walk, a slo-mo twirl, to the world during the swimsuit round of the Miss Universe 2018 preliminary competition at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. It was an homage to Mayon Volcano, which is located in her mother Normita Ragas Magnayon’s home province Albay.
The Miss Universe Organization has expressed its interest in having Gray and Banks walk together. However, the date and venue are yet to be confirmed and the perfectly located would be New York, United States, where Gray is currently residing.
After the year-end vacation, Gray moved from the Philippines to New York. While fulfilling her duties as the reigning Miss Universe, she shares an apartment with Miss USA 2018 Sarah Rose Summers.
In 2009, Banks bought an apartment at 2 River Terrace in Battery Park City, Manhattan, New York City, New York. The “ANTM” creator used it as a primary residence for about four years and decided to sell it in 2017, the New York Times reported.
It has been years since Banks retired from modelling but she apparently misses walking the runway. On November 29, 2018, she turned the sidewalk into her personal runway outside the AOL Building at Build Studio in New York City following a “Build Series” event.
Wearing a funky jacket, cuffed jeans and bright pink heels, Banks had her long brown hair down in wavy curls below her shoulders, Daily Mail reported. She was while promoting “Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve.”
Written by Cameron Fay and Stacey Harman and directed by Steven Tsuchida, “Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve” premiered on Freeform on December 2, 2018. Joining Banks in the cast were Francia Raisa, Gavin Stenhouse, Hank Chen, Alison Fernandez and Shanica Knowles.
