Shannon Wiratchai to face Tae Kyun Kim at ‘ONE: Clash of Legends’ in Bangkok, Thailand

Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, 30, is one of the six fighters representing Thailand at “ONE: Clash of Legends,” the first ONE Championship event to take place in Thailand in 2019. It marks the second time he is competing in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Featuring four Muay Thai bouts on the ONE Super Series card and eight mixed martial arts matches, “ONE: Clash of Legends” will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on February 16, 2019. In the eighth bout of the evening, Wiratchai will face Tae Kyun Kim, 24, of South Korea in an MMA match in the lightweight division.

Kim trains out of Monster House and Top Gym BF. He will make his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Clash of Legends.”

On January 28, 2019, ONE Championship held the “ONE: Clash of Legends” open workout at the P.K. Saenchai Muay Thai Gym in Bangkok, Thailand. In attendance were Wiratchai and his fellow Thai ONE Championship athletes namely Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige, 29, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, 32, Kongsak P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 28, Superlek Kiatmoo9, 23, and Chamuaktong Fightermuaythai, 30.

My career in ONE Championship has taken me all across the region, performing in front of huge crowds in iconic arenas in Asia,” Wiratchai stated during the “ONE: Clash of Legends” open workout. “But performing in front of my hometown fans in Bangkok will always be special to me.”

“I would like to thank ONE Championship for the opportunity to compete here in Bangkok and to showcase my skills as a world-class martial artist to fans all over the globe,” Wiratchai contined. “I vow to put forth my best effort in my next match and to prove to everyone that I still belong at the top of my division.”

In the main event, Nong-o will face Han Zi Hao, 23, of China for the inaugural ONE Super Series Muay Thai Bantamweight World Championship. Also representing Thailand, “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 29, will face Samy “AK47” Sana, 30, of France in a Muay Thai bout in the featherweight division.

Including Thailand and South Korea, 13 countries will be represented at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent.” The other countries are Cambodia, China, France, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, the United States and the United Kingdom.
