Tosun Yusuf Mehmet Barış Manço was a Turkish singer, songwriter and actor born in Üsküdar, Istanbul, Turkey. His mother Rikkat Uyanık was a also singer.

A father of two, Manço was married twice. He attended Galatasaray High School in Istanbul, where he formed his first band Kafadarlar, and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, Belgium.

From 1962 to 1963, Manço and his next band Harmoniler recorded cover versions of some American twist songs and rearrangements of Turkish folk songs in rock and roll form. From 1964 to 1967, he toured his band Les Mistigris in Turkey, Belgium, Germany and France.

In 1970, Manço formed Barış Manço Ve … with foreign musicians. They recorded his single “Dağlar Dağlar.”
