One of the non-Filipino mixed martial artists on the card of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” is Cian “The Warrior” Cowley, 25, Dublin, Ireland. Training out of Straight Blast Gym Ireland in Dublin, he is a training partner of former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 30.
Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019, “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” marks the Philippine debut of Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation. It will be headlined by reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, of the Philippines and his challenger, former Brave CF Featherweight Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France.
“Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” marks Cowley’s third Brave CF bout. He will face John Brewin, 24, of Auckland, New Zealand in the lightweight division.
On June 9, 2018, Cowley made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 13: European Evolution” at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he knocked out Daniel “Obi Wan” Olejniczak, 31, of Belfast. McGregor attended the fight night to support his SBG Ireland teammate.
It has yet to be confirmed whether or not McGregor is attending “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” to support Cowley. But Brave CF president Mohammed Shahid has confirmed that the event will be attended by several celebrities from all over the world.
McGregor and Cowley are more than just teammates. The world has witnessed how they, as loyal friends, stuck with each other through the good and the bad.
Five days after “Brave 13: European Evolution,” McGregor and Cowley had to be in Brooklyn Criminal Court in New York, United States. The two were among those who attacked a bus loaded with “UFC 223” fighters including Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia on April 5, 2018.
In the main event of “Brave 13: European Evolution,” Loman successfully defended his belt from SBG Ireland athlete Frans “The Black Mamba” Mlambo, 27. During the fight, McGregor was in the challenger’s corner while former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, was in the defending champion’s corner.
Banario and Loman are training out of Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines. Here is a clip featuring the reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion:
