Chris Hofmann to defend URCC belt against Musa Conteh at ‘URCC Global: Raw Fury’

Reigning URCC middleweight and light heavyweight champion Chris Hofmann, 29, will return to the cage at “URCC: Raw Fury.” URCC Global did not confirm which title the two-division champion, who is Filipino and Swedish descent, is defending but the mixed martial arts promotion announced Musa Conteh, 32, as the challenger.

Fighting out of Atlanta, Georgia, United States, Conteh competes in the light heavyweight division. “URCC: Raw Fury”marks his second bout in the Universal Reality Combat Championship, which was renamed as URCC Global in 2018.

On April 21, 2017, Conteh made his URCC debut at “URCC Fight Night: Battle Extreme Tournament of Superstars 2” at the Casino Filipino-Pavilion of the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino at United Nations Ave in Ermita, Manila, Metro Manila. In the main event, he dominated Caloy “Bad Boy” Baduria of the Philippines but in the end, the American fighter was disqualified due to illegal elbow.

Conteh is coming out of a unanimous decision loss to “Rhino Jongno” Kim Doo Hwan, 30, of Seoul, South Korea at “TFC 19” at the Sindorim Techno Mart Grand Ballroom in Seoul on November 16, 2018. The American fighter currently holds a professional MMA record of 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 No Contest.

On the other hand, Hofmann now has 7 wins and 1 loss. The Filipino-Swedish fighter is riding a seven-bout winning streak.

On December 21, 2013, Hofmann made his professional MMA debut at “Rebel FC 1: Into the Lion’s Den” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. He was knocked out by Doo, the South Korean fighter who recently defeated Conteh.

After losing to Doo, Hofmann joined the URCC and became undefeated in the promotion. He knocked out his first two opponents in the promotion namely Nickson Kola of Papua New Guinea and Jeremias Tan of the Philippines in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

On April 23, 2016, Hofmann became the URCC Light Heavyweight Champion by defeating Baduria at “URCC 27: Rebellion” at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport Boulevard in Pasay City, Metro Manila. On June 25, 2016, the Filipino-Swedish fighter defeated Arvin Chan in a catchweight 189-pound match at “URCC Fight Night” at the Valkyrie, the Palace, Uptown BGC in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

While reigning as the URCC Light Heavyweight Champion, Hofmann became the new URCC Middleweight Champion by knocking out John “The Outlaw” Adajar, 22, at “URCC 28: Vindication” at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.

On January 7, 2017, Hofmann successfully defended his URCC Middleweight Championship title from David “Tarzan” Douglas, 36, of Antioch, California, USA at “URCC 29: Conquest” at the Kezar Pavillion in San Francisco, California. For the second time, the former successfully defended the title at “URCC XXX” at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila where he knocked out Robert Sothmann of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

“URCC Global: Raw Fury” marks Hofmann’s eighth bout in the URCC. It will take place at the Cove Manila of Okada Manila at New Seaside Drive, Entertainment City in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 27, 2019.
