A heavyweight mixed martial arts match has been added to the “ONE: Reign of Valor” fight card. Alain “The Panther” Ngalani, 43, of Cameroon and Hong Kong will face Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, 35, of Italy.
“ONE: Reign of Valor” will take place at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on March 8, 2019. It marks Cerilli’s second outing in ONE Championship.
On November 23, 2018, Cerilli made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines where he challenged reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of the Philippines. The Filipino-American defending champion knocked out the Italian challenger via punch in the first round.
Before joining ONE Championship, Cerilli competed in Magnum Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors, among others. He was a Cage Warriors Heavyweight Champion.
Cerilli currently holds a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Ngalani has 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 No Contest.
As an MMA fighter, Ngalani has been competing professionally since 2013. “ONE: Reign of Valor” marks his 10th ONE Championship bout.
Born in Cameroon, Ngalani was only six years old when he started his judo training. As a teenager, he also trained in Muay Thai, kickboxing, karate and other striking disciplines.
From 1998 to 2001, Ngalani held the heavyweight kickboxing championship title in Africa. It was in 2001 when he moved to Hong Kong, where he is currently based.
At one point, Ngalani worked as a bodyguard. But after realizing how risky the job was, the four-time Muay Thai Kickboxing World Champion went back to becoming a fighter.
The opponents Ngalani defeated in ONE Championship were Mahmoud “Hellboy” Hassan, 38, of Egypt, Igor “Sugar Free” Subora, 38, of Ukraine, Hideki “Shrek” Sekine, 45, of Japan and Tur-Ochir Ariunbold, 29, of Mongolia.
On November 3, 2017, Ngalani lost to “The Burmese Python” Aung La Nsang, 32, of Myanmar in an open weight contest at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium. The latter is currently reigning as the ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion.
“ONE: Conquest of Champions” will be headlined by reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Sweden and his challenger Georgiy “Knight” Kichigin, 29, of Kazakhstan.
