Phoe “Bushido” Thaw, 34, is one of the three Burmese mixed martial artists on the “ONE: Reign of Valor” card. He is set to “The Iceman” Yohan Mulia Legowo, 38, of Indonesia.
Thaw showcased his skills during the official “ONE: Reign of Valor” open workout at the Transcend Fitness Yangon in Yangon, Myanmar on March 5, 2019. The fight night will take place at the iconic Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon on March 8, 2019.
“ONE: Reign of Valor” marks Thaw’s eighth bout in ONE Championship and he is coming out o his first loss in the promotion and as a professional MMA fighter. On October 26, 2018, he was submitted via guillotine choke by Keannu Subba, 24, of Malaysia at “ONE: Pursuit of Greatness” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium.
“It is always an amazing experience to be able to fight at home in Yangon and I look forward to doing it again on March 8,” Thaw stated. “I am coming off the first loss of my career and you can bet that I am more motivated and more determined than ever to get a win and get back on track.”
Featuring nine mixed martial arts matches and five kickboxing matches, “ONE: Reign of Valor” is the first ONE Championship event in 2019 to take place in Myanmar. In the co-main event, Thaw and Legowo will compete in the featherweight division. Currently reigning as the ONE Featherweight World Champion is Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 30, of Australia and Vietnam.
“I believe that if I win my next fight, I am one of the top contenders in the featherweight division,” Thaw said. “I know that I am only a few wins away from earning a World Title shot.”
The other two Burmese MMA fighters competing at “ONE: Reign of Valor” are “The Dragon Leg” Tial Thang, 25, and Bozhena “Toto” Antoniyar, 23. Both showcased their skills during the recent open workout at the Transcend Fitness Yangon.
