Fight week has started for “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” the first ever Brave Combat Federation event in the Philippines. Before the fight night, Brave CF president Mohammed Shahid met with Filipino officials to expand on the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion’s ideas for the development of the sport in the country and its role in the expansion of the links between Bahrain and the Philippines.
Shahid was welcomed into the office of the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry by secretary Ramón López. Joining the two were assistant secretary Angelo Taningco and board of investments officer Jennifer Aubrey Sanchez.
During the meeting, Shahid discussed how Brave CF and its maiden show in the Philippines will be of extreme help to the development of the sport in the country and how the rise in interest can help Filipino society as a whole aside from the economic boost that Brave can provide to the country. He also talked about how the promotion will strengthen the links between Bahrain and the Philippines and how its Filipino fighters have made the country proud worldwide with the Philippine flag being well represented in Brazil, Morocco, Pakistan and Northern Ireland, among others.
Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019, “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” will be headlined by reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, of the Philippines and Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France. Including Loman, 11 Filipino fighters are on the card.
In the co-main event, Cian “The Warrior” Cowley, 25, of Dublin, Ireland and John Brewin, 24, of Auckland, New Zealand will compete in the lightweight division. The Irish contender trains with former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 30, at Straight Blast Gym Ireland.
