At least two great things happened to Bi “KillHer Bee” Nguyen, 28, of Houston, Texas, United States in 2018. The Vietnamese-American athlete became the first mixed martial artist to join the CBS reality series “Survivor” and she signed with Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship.
Nguyen’s debut in ONE Championship is reportedly taking place in the Philippines. She will face Dwi Ani Retno Wulan , 20, of Indonesia at “ONE: Roots of Honor,” a source told The Body Lock.
“ONE: Roots of Honor” is the second ONE Championship event in 2019 to be held in the Philippines. It will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 12, 2019.
Reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Vietnam and Australia will headline “ONE: Roots of Honor.” He will be challenged by former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 43, of Mongolia.
In the co-main event of the evening, reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “Tobizaru” Saruta, 31, of Japan will defend his title for the first time. In a rematch, he will be challenged by former World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23, of the Philippines.
While “ONE: Roots of Honor” is marking Bi’s ONE Championship debut, it will be Wulan’s second outing in the promotion. When the Indonesian contender made her promotional debut at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 17, 2018, she defeated her fellow Indonesian contender Putri Padmi, 25, in the women’s atomweight division.
Bi and Wulan are expected to battle it out in the women’s atomweight division at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” The reigning champion of the division is “Unstoppable” Angela Lee, 22, of Singapore.
Currently, Bi is training out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. She holds a professional MMA record of 4 wins and 3 losses.
When Bi was eight years old, she moved from Vietnam to Oakland, California, USA with her parents and seven siblings. When she was 15 years old, she moved to Houston where she started her training in Muay Thai and kickboxing.
On the 10th day of “Survivor” Season 37 titled “Survivor: David vs Goliath,” Bi quit due to an injury. Listen to her exit interview here:
