'Stranger Things' Season 3

“Stranger Things 3” will premiere on Netflix on July 4, 2019. The third season of the sci-fi horror series created by twin brothers Matt Duffer, 35, and Ross Duffer, 35, will have 14 main characters.


14. Robin

An alternative girl, Robin is bored with her job until she unexpectedly discovers the secrets of Hawkins Radio Shack. To be introduced in “Stranger Things” Season 3, she is be played by Maya Hawke, 20, the daughter of Ethan Hawke, 48, and Uma Thurman, 48.

13. Karen Wheeler

Karen is played by Cara Buono, 48, who is of Italian descent and was born and raised in The Bronx, New York City, New York, United States. The character is the mother of teenage Nancy Wheeler, middle schooler Mike Wheeler and toddler Holly Wheeler.

12. Billy Hargrove 

Billy is the older step-brother of Maxine “Max” Mayfield. He is played by Dacre Montgomery, 24, was born in Perth, Western Australia, Australia to Canadian mother Judith Barrett-Lennard and Kiwi father Scott Montgomery-Harvey.

11. Steve Harrington

Steve is a popular student at the high school and is the boyfriend of Nancy Wheeler. He is played by Joe Keery, 26, a contributing musician for the psychedelic rock band Post Animal.

10. Jonathan Byers

A quiet teenager who aspires to become a photographer, Jonathan is very close to his mother Joyce Byers and to his younger brother Will Byers. Jonathan is played by psychedelic band Half Loon drummer Charlie Heaton, 25.

9. Nancy Wheeler

Nancy is Steve Harrington’s girlfriend, Mike Wheeler’s older sister and Karen Wheeler and Ted Wheeler’s daughter. Playing Nancy is Nashville School of the Arts alum Natalia Dyer, 22.

8. Maxine “Max” Mayfield

The younger step-sister of Billy Hargrove, Max is known as a tomboy who catches the attention of Lucas Sinclar and Dustin Henderson. Max is played by Sadie Sink, 16, who hails from Brenham, Texas, USA.

7. Will Byers

The son of Joyce Byers and the younger brother of Jonathan Byers, Will was discovered by the Hawkins Laboratory scientists when he vanished following his encounter with the monster that escaped through a rift to the Upside Down. Will is played by Noah Schnapp, 14, who was born in Scarsdale, New York to a Jewish family originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

6. Lucas Sinclair

Lucas is the love interest for Maxine “Max” Mayfield and is one of Will Byers’ friends. Portryaing Lucas is The Harlem School of the Arts alum Caleb McLaughlin, 17.

5. Dustin Henderson

Dustin, a friend of Will Byers and Steve Harrington, has cleidocranial dysplasia (CDD), which causes him to lisp. He is played by Gaten Matarazzo, 16, who has CDD in real life.

4. Eleven

A young girl with an unusual appearance, a limited vocabulary and psychokinetic abilities, Eleven escaped from Hawkins Laboratory where experiments were being performed on her. Also known as El, the character is played by Millie Bobby Brown, 15, the youngest person to be appointed as a United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador.

3. Mike Wheeler

An intelligent and conscientious student, Mike is Karen Wheeler and Ted Wheeler’s son, Nancy Wheeler’s younger brother and Will Byers’ friend. Mike is played by rock band Calpurnia guitarist and lead vocalist Finn Wolfhard, 16.

2. Jim Hopper

Jim is the chief of Hawkins Police Department and the adoptive father of Eleven. He is played by Dartmouth College alum David Harbour, 43.

1. Joyce Byers

Divorced from her sons Will Byers and Jonathan Byers’ father Lonnie Byers, Joyce is a retail clerk at Melvald’s General Store in the downtown area of Hawkins, Indiana, USA. She is played by Winona Ryder, 47, who was in a barn in Olmsted County, Minnesota, USA to authors Michael D. Horowitz and Cynthia Palmer.
