In 2017, Miss Cambodia 2016 Sotheary By became the first ever Miss Universe candidate from Cambodia. In 2018, Miss Cambodia 2017 Rern Sinat represented the Asian country in the international beauty pageant.
Both By and Sinat were unplaced. On March 31, 2019, the coronation night of the inaugural edition of Miss Universe Cambodia will take place at the Nagaworld – NABA Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
