Representing Cyprus, Panicos Yusuf, 33, was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It was the second victory of the Cypriot-Filipino martial artist in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 MMA bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the second bout of the evening, Yusuf faced Mohammed “Jordan Boy” Bin Mahmoud, 22, of Malaysia in a Muay Thai contest in the bantamweight division with Elias Dolaptsis as the referee.

After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai bantamweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Yusuf, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved Yusuf’s professional Muay Thai record to 38 wins and 7 losses. On the other hand, Mahmoud now has 31 wins and 4 losses.

Including Cyprus and Malaysia, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Era,” which is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Japan.
