Palestinian-American Belal Muhammad earns 6th UFC win at ‘UFC 236’ in Atlanta, Georgia

Palestinian-American mixed martial artist Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad, 30, of Chicago, Illinois, United States was one of the winners at “UFC 236.” It was his sixth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 13 MMA matches, “UFC 236” took place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on April 13, 2019. In the fourth bout of the evening, Muhammad faced Curtis “Curtious” Millender, 31, of San Bernandino, California, USA in the welterweight division with Marc Goddard as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the welterweight bout was left in the hands of the judges namely Mike Bell, Derek Cleary and Sal D’Amato. In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Muhammad, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Both Bell and Cleary scored the bout 27-29 while D’Amato scored it 26-30 all in favor of Muhammad. It was the third unanimous decision victory of the evening.

Winning at “UFC 236” improved Muhammad’s professional MMA record to 15 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Millender now has 17 wins and 5 losses.

“UFC 236” marked Muhammad’s ninth UFC bout. He has been competing professionally since 2012 and has been competing in the promotion since 2016.

Before joining the UFC, Muhammad competed in Bellator UFC and Titan Fighting Championship. The first five opponents he defeated in the UFC were Augusto “Dodger” Montano, 34, of Mexico City, Mexico, Randy “Rude Boy” Brown, 28, of Spanish Town, Jamaica, Jordan “Young Gun” Mein, 29, of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means, 35, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA and Chance “Black Eagle” Rencountre, 32, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, USA.

From 2016 to 2019, Muhammad lost to three opponents in the UFC. They were Alan “Brahma” Jouban, 36, of Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque, 27, of Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil and Geoff “Handz of Steel” Neal, 28, of Harker Heights, Texas, USA.

Muhammad was born in Chicago to Palestinian immigrants on July 9, 1988. In 2010, he earned his law degree from University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Illinois.
