Neither Anas “The Moroccan Sensation” Siraj Mounir, 33, of Morocco nor Alex Martinez, 24, of Canada won in their recent bout in Brave Combat Federation. They were pitted against each other at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor,” the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion’s second event in Jordan.
Featuring 12 MMA matches, which included three title bouts, “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” took place at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan. In the fifth bout of the evening, Mounir and Martinez competed in the lightweight division.
In the first round, Martinez went for a low kick, which was illegal although accidental. As a result, Mounir was unable to continue and the bout was declared a No Contest.
Now, Mounir holds a professional MMA record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 1 No Contest. Martinez now has 5 wins, 0 loss and 1 No Contest.
At “Brave 23: Pride and Honor,” Mounir was the only fighter who represented Morocco while Martinez solely represented Canada. Bahrain, Brazil, Egypt, England, France, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, the United States and Wales were also represented.
Mounir made his successful professional MMA debut in 2013 and in the same year, he earned two more wins. He joined Brave CF in 2018.
“Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked Mounir’s second Brave CF bout. He previously competed in Desert Force MMA and Phoenix Fighting Championship, among others.
Likewise, “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked Martinez’s second Brave CF bout. He previously competed in Hard Knocks Fighting, Xcessive Force Fighting Championship and Modern Fighting Championship.
An International Mixed Martial Arts Federation alum, Martinez made his successful professional MMA debut in 2016. He earned two wins in 2017 and two wins in 2018.
Martinez is one of the eight undefeated fighters on the “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” who maintained their unbeaten record after the fight night. The other seven are Hassan Talal, 30, of Iraq, Akhmed Magomedov of Russia, Aidan James, 23, of Wales, Ikram Aliskerov, 26, of Russia, Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev, 24, of Sweden, Hashem “Cavaca” Arkhagha, 30, of Jordan and the newly crowned Brave CF Welterweight Champion Abdoul “The Conqueror” Abdouraguimov, 23, of France.
