Barangay Ginebra San Miguel launched its 2019 Never Say Die jersey collection at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center, also known as Novotel Cubao, in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on May 9, 2019. The Philippine Basketball Association team’s collection features five Filipino basketball stars including Robert Jaworski, Sr. (7).
Jaworski joined the Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel in 1984 and served as a player-coach of the team from 1985 to 1998. Aside from the Filipino basketball legend, the 2019 Never Say Die jersey collection also features Jayjay Helterbrand (13), Mark Caguioa (47), Scottie Thompson (6) and Justin Brownlee (32).
The limited edition jerseys will be worn by the team in the upcoming 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel brand manager Paolo Tupaz explained what made the collection special.
“This is the first time in the 40-year history of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel that ‘Never-Say-Die’ is featured in the team jersey,” Tupaz said. “Barangay Ginebra San Miguel has become synonymous to the never-say-die spirit that has been the mantra not only of the Gin Kings but also of every kabarangay. Our tribute to never-say-die, which began with coach Robert ‘Sonny’ Jaworski, Sr., is also a tribute to the team’s legions of fans who have not only embraced and loved the team but also embodied the never-say-die attitude.”
