Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore and United MMA in Hawaii, United States, Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, has been crowned the new ONE Lightweight World Champion. He was one of the winners at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.”
Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which were six kickboxing bouts, “ONE: Enter the Dragon” was the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2019 that took place in Singapore. In the main event of the evening, Lee challenged then reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan with Olivier Coste as the referee.
In the opening round, Aoki imposed his will by taking Lee down with relative ease and threatened with a deep armbar submission attempt. However, the Singaporean challenger was able to survive.
In the second round, Lee took over as he unloaded a blistering combination of punches to put Aoki down. Coste put a stop to the championship contest after 51 seconds in the second round when the hometown fighter knocked out the defending champion.
Winning at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” improved the professional MMA record of Lee to 12 wins and 3 losses. Also training out of Evolve MMA, Aoki now has 43 wins and 9 losses.
Lee was one of the two hometown fighters at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” while Aoki was one of the four representatives of Japan. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States were also represented.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 21, 1998, Lee is a five-time Pankration World Champion. He is the younger brother of reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee, 22.
Christian been competing professionally since 2015. “ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked his 15th ONE Championship bout.
