Mixed martial artists Eric “The Natural” Kelly, 37, Trestle “Jun Minion” Tan, 34, and Angelie “The Explorer” Sabanal, 29, will represent the Philippines at “ONE: Legendary Quest” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China. The fight card features 10 MMA bouts, two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai matches.
In the second bout of the evening, Sabanal will compete in an MMA bout in the women’s atomweight division. She will face ONE Championship debutante Itsuki “Strong Heat Fighter” Hirata, 18, who trains out of K-Clann in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Originally from Gingoog City, Philippines, Sabanal trains of out Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. “ONE: Legendary Quest” marks her third outing in ONE Championship.
In the third bout of the evening, Tan will face “The Big Heart” Yoon Chang Min, 25, of South Korea in an MMA match in the lightweight division. It will be the second ONE Championship bout of the South Korean contender, who represents Busan Team MAD.
Tan is training out of California Fitness and Yoga in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where he is working as a trainer. He has fought in ONE Championship five times prior to “ONE: Legendary Quest.”
In the fourth bout of the evening, Kelly will compete in an MMA match in the featherweight division. He will face Niu Kang Kang, 23, a ONE Championship debutant training out of Dragon Warrior Gym in Shanghai.
“ONE: Legendary Quest” marks Kelly’s 12th ONE Championship outing. He is coming out of a six-bout losing streak in the promotion.
Headlining “ONE: Legendary Quest” are reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 21, of Thailand and her challenger Alma Juniku, 18, of Australia. In the co-main event of the evening, Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Malaysia will face former UFC fighter Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama, 43, of Japan who is making his ONE Championship debut.
