Fighting out of Cortland, New York, United States, Aljamain “Funk Master” Sterling, 29, was one of the winners at “UFC 238.” It was his 10th victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 13 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC 238” took place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, United States on June 8, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, Sterling competed in the bantamweight division against Pedro “The Young Punisher” Munhoz, 32, of Sao Paulo, Brazil with Marc Goddard as the referee.

In the first round, Sterling took advantage of his range. But in the second round, he was stunned by Munhoz though a kick.

In the third round, Munhoz delivered several kicks to the leg. Sterling responded with quick punches.

After three five-minute rounds, the bantamweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who scored it 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27. In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Sterling, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “UFC 238” improved the professional MMA record of Sterling to 18 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Munhoz now has 18 wins and 4 losses.

Including Brazil and the U.S., 11 countries were represented at “UFC 238.” The other countries were Australia, Bulgaria, China, England, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Russia and Scotland.

Born in Uniondale, New York on July 21, 1989, Sterling was on the wrestling team when he studied at Uniondale High School. Competing professionally since 2011, he joined the UFC in 2014.
