Fighting out of London, Greater London, England, Darren “The Dentist” Stewart, 28, was one of the winners at “UFC 238.” It was the third victory of the Jamaican-English mixed martial artist in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 13 MMA matches, “UFC 238” took place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, United States on June 8, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Stewart competed in the middleweight division against Bevon “The Extraordinary Gentleman” Lewis, 28, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA with Marc Goddard as the referee.
The blows Stewart landed throughout the fight were more telling than those by Lewis. The English contender outperformed his American opponent, who was not active enough.
After three five-minute rounds, the middleweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who scored it 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27. In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Stewart, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “UFC 238” improved Stewart’s professional MMA record to 10 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Lewis now has 6 wins and 2 losses.
Including England and the U.S., 11 countries were represented at “UFC 238.” The other countries were Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Russia and Scotland.
Born in Poplar, London on December 30, 1990, Stewart started her MMA training when he was 13 years old. His father was from Jamaica while his mother was from St. Vincent.
Aside from MMA, Stewart is also into dancing. He studied contemporary dance, ballet and street dance for The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) in England.
As an MMA fighter, Stewart has been competing professionally since 2014. He joined the UFC in 2016.
Stewart’s UFC debut ended in a No Contest. He lost to his next three opponents in the promotion.
On May 27, 2018, Stewart earned his first UFC win at “UFC Fight Night 130” by knocking out Eric “Zebrinha” Spicely, 32, of Olneyville, Rhode Island, USA. On September 8, 2018, the English fighter earned his second win in the promotion by knocking out Charles “Kid Dynamite” Byrd, 35, of Arlington, Texas, USA at “UFC 228.”
