The World Kickboxing Network returns to Italy on June 22, 2019 with a pair of title bouts contested in the headliner of “Invictus Arena 26.” Presented by Riccardo Lecca, the event features kickboxing, boxing and Muay Thai bouts.
Established in October 1994, WKN s a professional kickboxing organization that sanctions WKN World and subordinate championships in all disciplines of kickboxing. Among these disciplines are full contact, low kick kickboxing, oriental kickboxing and Thai boxing.
In the main event of “Invictus Arena 26,” Luca Carnevali of Italy takes on Erik Matejovsky of Slovakia. The pair battles it out for the WKN International Super Middleweight title.
In the co-main event, Francesco Picca of Italy faces Islam Ibragimov of Russia. The contest is for the WKN International Super Lightweight belt.
Both bouts are scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing. WKN president Stephane Cabrera stated, “WKN has been active in Italy for over two decades.”
“With promoter Riccardo Lecca we are working since 2017, presenting a number of WKN championship events, including International Grand Prix,” Cabrera continued. “We have also promoted dozens Italian kickboxers to compete acorss the World. We look forward to a spectacular event in Rome this weekend, and more international promotions in Italy to come.”
Taking place at Giardini Comunali in Formello, Rome, Italy, “Invictus Arena 26” is presented back to back with the “Prokick: Back at the Clayton” event. The latter will be held on June 23, 2019 in Belfast, Northern Ireland featuring the five-round WKN InterContinental Welterweight championship bout between local Johnny “Swift” Smith representing Europe and South Korean Lee Ji Hoon representing Asia.
