Representing the Philippines, Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres, 23, is highly determined to get back to the winner’s circle. To do that, she has to beat Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan, 20, of Malaysia at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In Torres’s most recent bouts, she lost to Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol, Mei Yamaguchi and Lin Heqin. But instead of sulking in defeat, the Filipino fighter has chosen to take each experience as a lesson and as such, she feels well-prepared to face Radzuan even in front of the fans of the latter at the Axiata Arena.
“It will be a good fight,” Torres said. “Jihin is a good fighter. She’s strong and skilled.”
“Both of us are hungry to win,” Torres continued. “I will give my best in this fight.”
Torres’s resolve will be out to the test against Radzuan. The Malaysian contender began her mixed martial arts stint on fire, finding success through her first four professional bouts until she ran into Team Lakay’s Gina Iniong.
But despite Radzuan’s immense talent, Torres believes that her hard work and trust in her team will result in an upset in the Malaysian fighter’s hometown.
“Jihin is strong and very well-rounded,” Torres acknowledged. “She can strike and she can take the fight to the ground. I have to be at my very best if I am to take the victory.”
“My team and I have prepared well for this fight,” Torres continued. “Every fighter has holes in their game. There is no perfect fighter.”
Under the guidance of ONE Championship veteran Rene Catalan, Torres is training non-stop for one of the most important bouts of her career. At “ONE: Masters of Destiny,” Torres will be coming in determined and focused to take the victory at the end of the night.
“There is always a weakness,” Torres pointed out. “We’ve studied her and we have prepared a good game plan. Now it’s just time to execute.”
What Torres wants everyone to know is that she is always hungry and determined to win. She said each time she steps into the cage, she is looking for victory and she wants to bring honor and glory to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, here is one of Torres’s best moments in ONE Championship:
