Giorgio Petrosyan decisions Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy in their rematch at ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ in Malaysia

Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 33, of Italy and Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand had their rematch at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was one of the four kickboxing contests on the card

Also on the “ONE: Masters of Destiny” card were two Muay Thai matches and 10 mixed martial arts bouts. In the main event of the evening, Petrosyan and Petchmorakot competed in a quarter-final bout of the ONE Kickboxing Featherweight World Grand Prix with Elias Dolaptsis as the referee.

All throughout the contest, Petrosyan was aggressive. The Italian-Armenian kickboxer stormed Petchmorakot with crushing combinations.

After three three-minute rounds, the rematch was left in the hands of the judges namely Ian Cartwright of Canada, Rosenberg Rosete of the Philippines and Eshton Thomas of Malaysia. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Petrosyan, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Petrosyan advances to the semi-final round of the ONE Kickboxing Featherweight World Grand Prix. He will now face “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 29, of Thailand in a highly anticipated rematch at “ONE: Dreams of Gold” in Bangkok, Thailand on August 16, 2019.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional kickboxing record of Petrosyan to 100 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws. On the other hand, Petchmorakot now holds a professional kickboxing and Muay Thai record of 158 wins, 35 losses and 2 draws.

The first encounter between Petrosyan and Petchmorakot was also a ONE Kickboxing Featherweight World Grand Prix quarter-final bout. The Thai contender defeated his Italian opponent via split decision at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on May 17, 2019.

But on March 22, 2019, ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong declared the first bout between Petrosyan and Petchmorakot a No Contest. Their rematch was subsequently set as the main event of  “ONE: Masters of Destiny.”
