Ireland, Poland and Northern Ireland were represented at “Brave 24: London” at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England on July 25, 2019. It was the first Brave Combat Federation event to take place in England.
An invite-only event attended by VIP guests, “Brave 24: London” featured seven professional mixed martial arts bouts. In the main event of the evening, former Brave CF Lightweight World Champion Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, 30, of Brazil challenged reigning Brave CF Featherweight World Champion Bubba “Bad Man” Jenkins, 31, of the United States.
Marc Goddard served as the referee. He put a stop to the title bout after 2 minutes and 48 seconds in the first round when Jenkins knocked out Martins.
Winning at “Brave 24: London” improved the professional MMA record of Jenkins to 14 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Martins now has 20 wins and 5 losses.
The official “Brave 24: London” weigh-ins took place in Stratford, England on July 24, 2019. Martins was the last to go on the scale and needed the towel and an extra hour to make the 65.8 kg limit.
Stepping in at 65.6 kg in the first attempt, Jenkins showed impatience with Martins. The American defending champion went on to say to other fighters in the room that he would face off against himself.
Upon the announcement of the “Brave 24: London” main event, the beef between Jenkins and Martins started. After both fighters made weight during the weigh-ins, they stared each other down and the beef.
The beef almost went to a boiling point as Jenkins started trash-talking and Martins motioned with his hands and said the defending champion was talking too much. The beef almost spilled into their cornermen, who also had a heated discussion during the staredown.
Jenkins solely represented the U.S. at “Brave 24: London.” It was his second outing in Brave CF.
Martins solely represented Brazil at “Brave 24: London.” It was his fourth outing in the Brave CF.
Including Brazil and the U.S., 11 countries were represented at “Brave 24: London.” The others were Bahrain, Canada, England, Ireland, Lebanon, Northern Ireland, Poland, Russia and Wales.
