Representing Indonesia, “The Terminator” Sunoto, 34, will be in the Philippines soon for “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” It will be his 15th bout in ONE Championship.
Sunoto will be the only representative of Indonesia at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” The other countries that will be represented are Australia, Brazil, China, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on August 2, 2019. It is the promotion’s third event in 2019 to take place in the country.
On the fight card are 13 MMA matches and two Muay Thai matches. In the first bout of the evening, Sunoto will compete in an MMA contest in the bantamweight division against “Jungle Cat” Muhammad Aiman, 24, of Malaysia.
In the main event of the evening, Koyomi “Moushigo” Matsushima, 26, of Japan will challenge ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 30, and Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 27, of Australia and Vietnam. In the co-main event, “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangon, 22, of Thailand will challenge reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, 22, of the U.K.
Aiman is training out of Bali MMA in Bali, Indonesia. On the other hand, Sunoto is training out of IndoGym and in Team Phantom MMA in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Sunoto has been competing professionally since 2013. He joined ONE Championship in 2015.
The Indonesian MMA fighter is coming out of a unanimous decision victory at “ONE: For Honor” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on May 4, 2019. He earned his ninth ONE Championship victory by defeating his fellow Indonesian fighter Paul “The Great King” Lumihi, 31.
Originally from East Java, Indonesia, Sunoto moved to Jakarta in 2012. Currently, he holds the rank of brown belt in traditional Japanese jiu jitsu.
Aside from competing in MMA, Sunoto is also a member of the Indonesian national sambo team. He is a former World Karate Foundation Indonesia Champion.
