United States President Donald Trump became the laughing stock on social media after a mistake he committed during a televised speech on August 5, 2019. He incorrectly identified the Ohio city where a gunman recently opened fire. on August 4, 2019.
On August 3, 2019, 22 were killed and dozens were injured in a massacre at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, United States. On August 4, 2019, nine were killed and 27 injured in an attack in Dayton’s entertainment district.
Instead of the city of Dayton, Trump mistakenly referenced Toledo. He was reading from a teleprompter in the White House.
“May God bless the memory of those who perished in Toledo,” Trump stated. “May God protect them. May God protect all of those from Texas to Ohio. May God bless the victims and their families.”
