Cebu City’s Jin Macapagal is ‘BidaMan: The Big Break’ grand winner

Hailing from Cebu City, Philippines, Jin Macapagal, 24, was the grand winner of “BidaMan: The Big Break.” It was a segment of the variety show “It’s Showtime,” which airs Mondays to Fridays on ABS-CBN.

The finale of the weeklong “BidaMan: The Big Break” grand finals was held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on August 10, 2019. Including Macapagal, 12 finalists competed in the finale.

There were seven members of the panel of judges in the finale. They were directors Bobet Vidanes, 53, and Ruel S. Bayani and actors Joshua Garcia, 21, Angel Locsin, 34, Nadine Lustre, 25, Edu Manzano, 63, and Ian Veneracion, 44.

In the first round of the finale, the 12 finalists showcased their talents. Macapagal danced to the tune of “Rock Your Body” by Justin Timberlake, 38.

From 12, the grand finalists were trimmed down to six. The Top 6 finalists were Macapagal, Ron Macapagal, 21, of Malate, Manila, Dan Delgado, 22, of Mandaluyong City, Yuki Sakamoto, 28, of Taguig City, Jiro Custodio, 22, of Gapan, Nueva Ecija and Eris Aragoza, 23, of Binangonan, Rizal.

In the second round, the six finalists performed in an acting challenge with a professional actor as a partner in 2 minutes. Jin’s acting partner was Emmy-nominated actress Jane Oineza, 23.

Among the six finalists, three were chosen for the third and final round. Each of the Top 3 finalists namely Jin, Aragoza and Custodio did a monologue.

Jin was the last one to deliver a monologue. It was about a son who holds a grudge against his irresponsible father who left.

As the “BidaMan: The Big Break” grand winner, Jin took home a brand new house and lot with a cash prize worth ₱1 million. He also received a talent management and film contract from ABS-CBN.

This is not the first time Jin competed in an ABS-CBN talent competition. In 2016, he joined “Pinoy Boyband Superstar”but only made it to the semi-finals.
