The ONE Championship bout between Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, 36, and Arjan Bhullar, 33, of India is happening at “ONE: Century” in Tokyo, Japan. Their heavyweight match at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines was cancelled due to the Italian contender’s injury.
ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Century” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on October 13, 2019. It will have two fight cards with 11 bouts each.
The second part of “ONE: Century” will be headlined by reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of the Philippines and ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Aung La N Sang, 34, of Myanmar. The sixth bout is the mixed martial arts bout between Cerilli and Bhullar in the heavyweight division.
“ONE: Century” marks Cerilli’s third ONE Championship out. In his promotional debut, he lost to reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of the Philippines at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
On March 8, 2019, Cerilli earned his first victory in the promotion. He knocked out Alain “The Panther” Ngalani, 44, of Cameroon and Hong Kong via knees at “ONE: Reign of Valor” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
The victory improved the professional MMA record of Cerilli to 13 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Bhullar has 9 wins and 1 loss.
Bhullar will make his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Century.” He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship from September 9, 2017 to March 4, 2019.
Born in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada on May 13, 1986, Bhullar is of Punjabi Sikh descent. In 2014, he made his professional MMA debut and was undefeated until 2018 when he tasted his first loss upon joining the UFC.
The Canadian-Indian heavyweight MMA fighter began his martial arts career on the mat. Representing Canada, he won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India and at the 2012 Olympics in London, England.
