Damir Ismagulov, 28, of Orenburg, Russia was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 157,” which is also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 15.″ It was his third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC Fight Night 157” took place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China on August 31, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Ismagulov competed in the lightweight division against Thiago Moises, 24, of Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
John Sharp served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who all scored it 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27, and in the end, Sharp raised the hand of Ismagulov, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 157” improved the professional MMA record of Ismagulov to 19 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Moises now has 12 wins and 4 losses.
Eight countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 157” namely Brazil, China, Japan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the United States. Moises was one of the five representatives of Brazil while Ismagulov was one of the two representatives of Russia.
“UFC Fight Night 157” marked the third UFC bouts of Moises and Ismagulov. The Brazilian contender is training out of 011 MMA Team in Sao Paulo while the Russian fighter is training out of Fighter Gym in Orenburg.
Ismagulov is of Kazakh descent and was born in Orenburg on February 3, 1991. He has been competing professionally since 2014.
In 2018, Ismagulov joined the UFC. The first two opponents he defeated in the promotion were Alex “Hitman” Gorgees, 24, of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and Joel “El Fenomeno” Alvarez, 26, of Gijón, Asturias, Spain.
In the main event of “UFC Fight Night 157,” “Magnum” Zhang Weili, 30, became the new UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion by dethroning defending champion Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, 27, of Parana, Brazil. In the co-main event, Elizeu “Capoiera” Zaleski dos Santos, 32, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil lost to“The Leech” Li Jingliang, 31,of Xinjiang, China in the welterweight division.
